@nickmattedwards Good point. No mumble, jumble, electronic fumbles on this song.

@nickmattedwards I agree that this is a great song, Don McLean is talented, some great music was made back then and some awful music is made now. However, there's still also some good music nowadays, Return to Me by Matthew Ryan and Living a Lie by Daniel Zott are two great songs similar to this released recently. Also, there was some terrible music made back then, listen to Coconut by Harry Nilsson, Once You Understand by Think or anything by The Doors if you don't believe me.

This comes from a time when musicians still made real music

Without a doubt, some of the best lyrics ever written... The man is in a category of his own when it comes to painting a picture with words!!

Harry Belafonte also does a nice version of this song.

Ma father died last year. Few days before he possibly joked. "I am Dying here and nobody cares". Just a day after he was in hospital still vital, smiling only on the check. Next day he send a text message from an intensive care. Two weeks later he died. I never thouhgt the words he said were true. Never thought He said just what he ment. I never Knew ho much I really needed him. I did not hold his hand in time when he went. This is a pain of my life. I miss him. Martin |
